Featured Track: More Than That

"I’m very excited to be included in Reality Decks and am blown away by its potential."

Clement Spark decided that he wanted decks after hearing KCJ cutting up two copies of Run DMC's Beats to the Rhyme on Dave Pearce's GLR show back in 1989. His early influences were the turntablists and he eagerly recorded any sets he could find on radio shows. It was from this and the DMC competitions that he taught himself beat-matching and scratching.

Initially, he was mostly picking up Hip-Hop and New Jack Swing to play out in the early ‘90s but after three years living in Brighton, his tastes shifted to US Garage. 1994 was a massive year for him with tracks from 24 Hour Experience, Barbara Tucker and Nuyorican Soul shaping his future direction.

Today, although he would class his sets as house, he dips into Soulful, Deep and Jackin’ and loves to throw the classics in with the new tracks.

A new chapter opened in late 2015 when he decided to channel his passion for music into production. He enlisted in SubBass’s Music Production Course which provided him the grounding and encouragement he needed to pursue this new direction. Fast forward two years, a steep learning curve, a very helpful friend and a fortuitous conversation and he’s released three tracks – believe it or not, two of them on a label owned by one half of 24 Hour Experience. Weird how that stuff happens!

Looking to the future he’ll continue his quest to lock down his “sound” and ultimately wants to be regularly hearing his music in bars and clubs as well as being spun by his favourite DJs on D3EP and HouseFM.
